Editing the Member Releases Set

Used to edit the model annotation style for the member releases, depending on how they are set. Member releases apply only to the i node or j node ends (the very first or the very last node) of the analytical member. See Edit Model Annotation Style for information on using the other fields on this dialog.

SettingDescription
End Condition Symbol sections

In these sections, select the symbol to display for the type of release. Click on the symbol itself to choose which to use.

  • Fixed End Condition Symbol — In this section, specify how to display node ends that are fixed. Fixed end conditions are when X, Y, Z, RX, RY, and RZ are not released.
  • Pinned End Condition Symbol — In this section, specify how to display node ends that are pinned. Pinned end conditions are when RY and RZ are released, but not X, Y, Z, and RX.
  • Symbol for Other End Conditions — In this section, specify how to display all other combinations of releases for the node ends.
Symbol

Select the symbol to display for the node end.

  • None — Display no symbol for the selected node end.
  • Square — Display a square for the selected node end.
  • Circle — Display a circle for the selected node end.
  • Triangle — Display a triangle for the selected node end.
Label placement options

The label placement options determine the size and location of labels relative to member releases elements.

  • Size — Enter the size in scale units for the symbol.
  • Position value — Using the Position option menu, enter the value to use to position the node end symbol. For example, if you are entering % of member length, enter 50 to place the symbol at the halfway point of the member. If you enter 100, the symbol will appear at the end of the member. If you select Distance from end, enter the distance in units (1:0 is one foot, for example).
  • Position option menu — Determines the symbol position by combining the Position value with one of the positioning options:
    • % of member length – Uses the position value as a percentage of the member length.
    • Distance from end – Uses the position value as a measured distance from the node end.
Symbology

The label symbology is determined with the settings in this region of the dialog.

  • Level — Sets the level at which to place the node end symbol.
  • Color — Sets the color to use for the node end symbol.
  • Style — Sets the line style for the node end symbol.
  • Weight — Sets the line weight to use for the node end symbol.
